Good Deal!

I found this deal while shopping with my Mom at Antique Alley in Cleburne, Texas!  The lady only charged me $10 for the dollhouse kit.  She said that she had bought it to put together for her daughter but it had been sitting in her garage for 12 years!  Good for me!  :)  I've done some research and discovered that this particular kit sells for an average of $169 today!  I feel like I hit the jackpot!  But, with all the other FREE dollhouses I have sitting in my garage it will be quite a while before I actually get to it.  Can't say I have nothing to do .....   Any suggestions on how I should decorate this one?  Any ideas are welcome!  Thanks!

Always Remember

Always remember those who lost their lives 10 years ago on 9/11.  Also remember their loved ones and all of us who have been affected by this tragedy.  THANK those military personnel who are fighting for our freedom such as my son Jared who is in the Air Force.  I am so proud of him and I know his son (my wonderful grandson!) Christian is too!  Keep on keepin' on guys!

Bible Verse for Dollhousers

By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.  -- Proverbs 24: 3-4

I found this verse one day as I was thumbing through my Bible.  It helped me to believe that I was working on dollhouses for a reason.  I do hope to one day possibly donate my dollhouses to a children's charity.  Others may not understand why I do this, but as long as it helps me, helps my mind and my soul, I will continue to do so.

Progress Update On Current Project

As you can see, I have a LONG way to go!  But, you can at least tell where I have painted and where I haven't!  I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase (at a wonderful price!) some extraordinary dollhouse furniture.  It will be enough to fill up this project and probably still have quite a bit leftover for an additional project as well.  Let's just say that I LOVE Craigslist!  I have not been able to work on my "Phantom House" as much as I would like because the weather has been so hot but with the cooler weather today and hopefully throughout the remainder of the week, I should be able to get a lot more accomplished .. but I do have all the time in the world.  Those who work on dollhouses know that you cannot get in a hurry when it comes to our projects and miniatures.  But, I am impatient and can never wait to see the finished product!  Haha!  I have not shown the back of the dollhouse with furniture because I arrange and re-arrange until it is perfect for me.  This is just the beginning -- Phase 1, if you will!  More photos to come!

Reason For Our Move Back To Burleson

These adorable kiddos are the reason that we've moved back to Burleson, Texas!  Our grandchildren (Left-Right) are Christian, Faith and Madden.  A FOURTH grandchild is on the way and due sometime mid-April.  I am hoping that possibily, one day, Faith will admire her MiMi's dollhouses and want one for her very own.  Of course, we don't know the gender of the upcoming little bundle of joy but if SHE wants one too that would be awesome!  I suppose I could try to figure out how to make a firehouse or some "manly" type dollhouse for Christian and/or Madden .. wouldn't want to leave them out!

My Current Project

I received this project FREE off Craigslist from a gentleman in Duncanville named Art Sellevold.  What a generous man!  He also gave me two other huge dollhouses (which I will work on eventually!) and TONS of old dollhouse magazines and books.  I have decided to call the "Phantom House".  Mark thinks is looks like the Addams family house.  There is a small closet in one of the bedrooms that I am planning to have a ghost emerge from.  I am painting the exterior green and want to make it look a little old and creepy.  It will sport a For Sale sign that has the phone number 555-FEAR.  I will add photos to show my progress.  Let me know what you think!
